The issue
A few of my clients are asking for help to reduce their consumption of alcohol. Some say they find they can’t stop once they have had that first drink and they suffer from “binge” drinking, affecting their work and relationships. Days are often just written off whilst they recover and their overall health and fitness has suffered. Others are more concerned about regular drinking habits, and they often state that the first thing they do when they get home from work is open a bottle of wine whilst cooking dinner. They have put on weight and often feel lethargic. They want to access a more balanced approach. They want to be back in control.
The drivers
It’s no wonder that so many people have become entrenched in regular drinking as it’s very much engrained in our culture. Most forms of socialising, such as parties, include alcohol. Drinking is even popular at sporting events, which is ironic when you think about it, as alcohol is known to have a significant impact on our health. I used to run with the Hash House Harriers and we always finished the run with a lot of beer. The drinks industry spends billions on advertising, perpetuating the myth that alcohol is necessary to relax and have a good time. In fact, alcohol is a stimulant.
What we can do together
In Solution Focussed Hypnotherapy we use hypnosis to access the subconscious part of the mind. Over a period of several weeks we work together to gently re-programme the subconscious mind with your preferred, positive responses. Negative habits and learned behaviours, which are often centred in the Hippocampus, part of the Primitive Emotional Brain, can be replaced with more healthy thoughts. The new you has a more measured relationship with alcohol.
Please contact me to arrange a free session where we can discuss this or any other issues you are facing. I will also provide you with an audio which I will ask you to listen to each evening for a week. If you have then decided you would like to proceed then we can begin our work together, either face to face or online, to bring about the solution we are focussed on.
